Priorities

TIMELINE:

  • We would like to move in by 3/1.
  • Focus on breakfast area, family room, and dining room. My goal is have those rooms done by 5/1.
  • We want to finish master room, living room, and foyer done by 7/1.
  • I am not sure about the timing for the outdoor living area.

FURNITURE/DECOR IN THE INTERIM:
Initially we will bring our guest or master room bed, child's bed room set, child's play room stuff, and home office furniture.

We might bring our breakfast nook table and dining room set in the interim.  Eventually, we don't want to keep the breakfast nook table and dining room set.  Having said that, if it costs more to move those, I will just leave them in our old home.

We should take another look of our current breakfast table & dining room table to see if we are able to re-purpose breakfast table for kid's paint station in the new home.

We also have some paintings that we want to know if they will look good in the new home.  Maybe in the library or rooms upstairs.

PRIORITIES:
We need to get the selected carpet and painting done before we move.  Carpet needs to be cleaned.  House needs to be completed dusted.  Need to decide whether to move before kitchen cabinet is done.

CARPET -
  • We got to change the carpet for kid's bed room, kids play room upstairs, my closet and office.
  • I am still debating on the carpet for stairs.  The carpet is expensive, but it is not quite 100% to my style of decor.  In the interim, we should clean the carpet of all rooms.
  • I heard that the carpet quality of living room, library and stairs are quite good.  I don't want to replace with something cheaper.

PAINTING -
  • I am still figuring out where to repaint the wall.  We got to repaint the master bedroom, office upstairs, our child's playroom molding & ceiling, our family room and front door.  The color of family room is critical as it needs to match with fabric and indoor/outdoor living area.
  • The base molding of the entry way also needs some touch up.
  • We might want to repaint the kitchen cabinet.  If it is not too expensive, maybe we should just take care of it now.

MISC -
  • Before we move in, we probably need to finish TV wiring.
  • We need to make sure to put in some safety measure for the laundry room upstairs because I heard so many awful stories about water leakage.
  • If we are to bring in electrician and plumbers prior to our move in date, we should do some projects all at once.
  • Might not get new washer/dryer.  Will do some thorough cleaning first.
